Crypto-Crowfunding Workshop is planned for Saturday, April 8, 2017 at The Tribe at 401-68 Water Street, Vancouver, BC. This event is part of the annual Coinfest and its founder is Andrew Wagner from the Bitcoin Coop in Vancouver.
In 2016, blockchain startups raised some $200 million in Initial Coin Offerings (ICO), a new form of crowdfunding based on cryptocurrency tokens. An ICO is an unregulated means by which funds are raised for a new cryptocurrency venture. An Initial Coin Offering (ICO) is used by startups to bypass the rigorous and regulated capital-raising process required by venture capitalists or banks. In an ICO campaign, a percentage of the cryptocurrency is sold to early backers of the project in exchange for legal tender or other cryptocurrencies, but usually for Bitcoin.
CoinFest always needs more organizers. We hope to spread across the globe, and could use your help! The Waldorf Hotel Upgrades The Art Party at No Cost to Support Local Community

The Waldorf Hotel moved The Art Party (www.TheArtParty.org) free entry event at no cost to the Hideaway Nightclub space that fits over 100 people. The Vancouver-based social club for local art and small business members originally booked the back area of Nonna’s, which was no longer available due to an upcoming movie shoot throughout this historic hotel. The Waldorf Hotel needed the lucrative movie contract and moved this event to the Hideaway Nightclub, providing more space for DJ, dancing, networking, live painting and art show.
DJ Dunbar (Cole Fraser) will be spinning some chilled retro, to complement a duo art exhibition with Christopher Rodrigues (abstract planet artist) and Sarazen Brooks (abstract galaxy artist) at this networking mixer. The Waldorf is also opening the bar and the kitchen by the Hideaway Nightclub to support this event.

About The Waldorf Hotel:
In January 20, 2013, The Waldorf Hotel was forced to close due to the unexpected sale to Solterra Group of Companies (Solterra), a condominium developer. It had re-opened its doors on October 31, 2010 and showcased the city’s top culture producers like Black Mountain, Douglas Coupland, Rodney Graham, Grimes, Japandroids, Michael Turner, and Paul Wong all headlined events there. Prior to this, the complex, which was built in 1947, had seen better days, and was just one of many dilapidated Eastside dive bars. The closure caused a petition with thousands of art supporters protesting Solterra who was unwilling to sit down and discuss negotiating long-term lease possibilities with former tenant, Arrival Agency.
This was a fun joint event with First Canadian Barter Exchange. Over 70 guests attended. Malcolm Parry from the Vancouver Sun interviewed several of the guests.
